Herbal extracts, such as ginkgo biloba, are believed to improve blood circulation. Experts believe that these extracts increase in blood circulation to the brain area and deliver nutrients to hair follicles which promote hair growth.

Green tea and pygeum extracts have almost the same uses which help prevent and treat baldness among males. Saw palmetto is popular in slowing hair loss and encourages hair regrowth. It is also proven to protect men’s prostates. Stinging nettle also helps prevent hair loss because it has the ability to block conversion of testosterone into DHT. It is much more effective when combined with saw palmetto and pygeum.

The best way to protect hair from any damage is by using all-natural hair products. You may use gentle formulated shampoos like of the ones that are usually recommended for babies. As we all know, the sun produces heat that may damage hair, so you should avoid exposing your hair too much with sunlight. Over exposure to sunlight will make your hair dry and damaged. You may use hat to protect your hair if you really need to go out on a sunny day. Take good care of your hair; allow it to shine beautifully for you to stand out in the crowd.

Eating the right way helps achieving weight loss goals. Taking meals in smaller amounts, frequently helps in being energetic all the day and prevents from eating more.

Eating out is often associated with obesity as when dining outside, most of the people don’t check what they eat. Hence, to achieve weight loss, it is better to avoid dining outside.

Break fast should not be skipped as it has been found out that, people who do not skip their break fast are very successful in losing weight. If break fast is skipped the bodily metabolism slows down and when food is taken during lunch, it results in increased insulin levels and in turn weight gain.

It is good to stay away from beverages rich in fat and sugar as they will increase the insulin levels in the blood, while caffeine content can lead to dehydration.

Diet strategy can be planned in such a way that, without having to cut the favorite foods, they can be consumed in smaller portions along with healthy fresh vegetables or fruits to get a filled up feeling. By this way, the nutritional value of the food consumed is increased and fat rich foods are minimized.

Dieting And Diabetes

Among those that suffer from Type 2 diabetes almost 40% have high blood pressure, which is another condition that is believed to be exacerbated by excess weight. Being overweight might also lead to a condition known as insulin resistance in which the body no longer responds to the insulin that is needed to assist the body in using sugar and glucose as fuel on a cellular level.

There are some things you can do to help yourself out if you have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes or labeled at risk for this devastating condition. First of all, take off the pounds. I know this is much easier said than done. Dieting is never easy and rarely fun for the average person. However, if you do not begin to take drastic steps toward procuring the best possible health for yourself you may not be able to enjoy the quality of life you had planned for your golden years. Let your condition be your motivation and make plans to enjoy watching your grandchildren and great grandchildren graduate college.

Fight it standing up. Don’t sit down and let Diabetes control you. Stand up and take control of your body back. This is a fight to the finish and if you let it, diabetes will be your end. If you fight it standing up, lose the weight, get out there and exercise, listen to the doctor’s orders and follow them. Find the strength within you to battle this disease head on. You’ll be amazed at what happens when you decide to stand up and fight for your health.

Get active. Find activities that you enjoy and get out there and do them. Don’t make those activities passive activities either. Even if it’s just going out to play shuffleboard everyday get out there and play. Enjoy your time in the sun. Pick flowers with the little ones. Take up golf. Do whatever it takes to get up and moving each and every day in order to remember why you want to live forever in the first place.

Watch what you eat. Garbage in, garbage out, right? You have strict dietary requirements once you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes. This means that you absolutely must follow your dietary restrictions. Learn to live within those limits in order to live and enjoy life to the fullest you can. The amazing thing is that there are all kinds of foods available that are friendly to those with diabetes that weren’t around just a few short years ago. It is quite possible to live and eat quite nicely with diabetes if you stick to your plan. The most important thing about dieting with diabetes is that you never lose sight of how crucial it is to do so.

Removing Old Trees

Sometimes a tree gets to the point where it is necessary to say goodbye to it. It can be a painful choice to make, but sometimes the tree gets too close to the house, gets too diseased, gets an incurable infestation of some pest, or grows too tall and gets close to a power line. If any of these things occur, its best to do the right thing and get rid of the tree. Although you might have spent hours and hours getting the tree to where it is today, it is almost dishonorable to the tree to allow it to suffer in bad conditions.

Once you have made the choice to remove the tree, you need to plan its removal. I can’t begin to count how many windows I’ve seen knocked out or cars I’ve seen crushed because of poor planning in the tree removal process. Decide what direction you want it to fall, and accurately measure to make sure it will fall completely clear of anything else that it could possibly cause damage to.

Once you have the falling direction planned out, you should climb up the tree and tie two long ropes near the top. Anchor them on the opposite side of the one that you want it to fall towards. This will allow you to adjust the direction the tree is being lowered in, just in case it starts leaning towards anything it could destroy.

Now that you’ve taken all the necessary precautions, you are ready to begin chopping. If you plan on using a manually operated saw or axe, please step back and consider how insane that is. Chopping down a tree by hand will take you forever, and will not even begin to be as accurate as using a chainsaw. If you don’t have a chainsaw, you shouldn’t even consider doing it without one. Ask around with your neighbors and see if anyone has one that you could borrow. If that doesn’t work, rent or buy one from your local home improvement store.

Before you start chopping away at the tree, you should wear proper eye and face protection in case any wood chips fly towards your eyes. I had a friend who blinded his right eye while cutting down a tree, so I hope all of my readers do not make the same mistake as he did. Whenever you operate a power tool, always be sure to wear proper protection for any exposed parts of your body.

When making the cut, you do not want to just cut a straight line into the tree. It is best to cut a sideways “V” into the tree. This is because if you cut the straight line, the tree will end up rolling to one side or the other. If you cut in a “V”, the tree will be able to fall in the exact direction that you want it to fall. Occasionally it might be a few feet off due to human error during the cutting process, but if you have some strong friends pull on the ropes you tied, you can line it back up with the path you wanted it to take. The entire process shouldn’t take more than an hour.

Removal of the stump can be slightly more difficult. You have several choices; you can rent out a stump chipper that will completely destroy the visible section of the stump. Or you can spend countless hours digging it out. Digging out the stump is much more thorough, but takes forever. If you have kids this shouldn’t be a problem. Kids often find the thought of digging fun, and are excited to go outside and dig all day long with their friends. This was the method I used, and I had the entire stump out within a week. Keep in mind that my stump was about 1 foot in diameter, and digging probably won’t work for stumps much larger than that.

Dieting For Success Making It Happen

Dieting is far too often approached from the mindset of impending failure. Too many people have tried and failed so many diets in their past that they try the next new diet with the absolute knowledge that they will fail in this attempt as well. Guess what? They will.

Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can or think you can’t you will always be right.” If you think you are going to fail at this diet you are dooming yourself to failure before you even deprive yourself of the first bite. Think about that before you begin because only a true masochist could find pleasure in perpetuating this vicious cycle without ever stopping to wonder why none of the other diets have worked for you. Henry Ford also said, “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently”. In case you were wondering I would say his words are quite profound. Seriously though, if you do not examine the reasons for your failures you are certainly dooming yourself to repeat them and if you are already planning to fail why on earth would you even try?

You are the only person who can take control of your need to eat. You are the only one who can pay attention and notice when you are eating for emotional fulfillment and when you are eating from necessity. You and you alone can get yourself out of your chair and on your feet. You are the only one that can take the responsibility for the condition in which you find yourself. There are medical exceptions but even in these situations if you are trying diet after diet and failing over and over again then you must at some point in time realize that it is quite likely not the diets that aren’t working.

We must all be accountable for our successes and failures in life. It is no different when it comes to dieting. There are few better feelings in the world than for someone to notice and compliment your efforts. If you are very obese unfortunately, it may take a little more time for people to actually notice the weight you’ve lost. Too many men and women give up simply because no one noticed and that is an incredible shame. Give your dieting practices an opportunity to work before you decide they are a failure and you just might surprise yourself with a roaring success.

The truth is far too few people hold themselves accountable to their dieting and weight loss goals. This means that far too many people are giving up without really ever bothering to give it an effort. If you have an issue holding yourself accountable to your dieting plans, perhaps you would do well to diet with a partner. This helps you not only set goals but also to meet and exceed challenges along the way. A partner can also benefit from the partnership as he or she will be challenged and feel the need to perform better than if he or she were dieting alone.

You must hold yourself accountable to your stated dieting and weight loss goals in order to achieve any lasting results. If you have not had dieting success in the past, then perhaps it is time to bring some degree of accountability into the picture and make it happen.

Four Steps To Tripling Your Energy

Tired? Tired of being tired? You aren’t alone. There are few human qualities more highly sought than energy. It determines our ability to enjoy life, to attract mates, to finish projects, to protect our families, to shape our bodies effectively, and so much more.

While there are endless specific suggestions about herbs, exercises, meditations, supplements, rest patterns and so forth that I could mention, the most important and over-arching components are relatively simple, and available to anyone with the willingness to begin.

Basically, your energy level will be controlled by three physical and one psychological factor.

A) Fitness. There are a variety of different things that contribute to the quality called “fitness,” but a few of them are specific to energy level.

1) Cardio-vascular fitness. A dead minimum of twenty minutes three times a week, just to stay in the game. If you want to create a swift, powerful change, try forty minutes four times a week. Walking is sufficiently intense, if you stay in the “aerobic zone” which can be described as a level of exertion where you can’t sing, but you can still talk!

2) Body-mass index. Unneeded weight is like a sack of wet cement strapped to your back. It eats up energy like crazy. Regardless of what anyone says or implies, there is only one basic way to lose fat: to change the ratio of calories consumed to calories burned. In general, this requires discipline on BOTH ends. Fat loss is a two-headed snake. If you diet but don’t exercise, your metabolism can slow down to a crawl, denying you success. And if you exercise but don’t eat sensibly, well, a pound of fat has about 3500 calories. An hour of running only burns about 350 calories. Do the math.

3) Flexibility. Often overlooked in the search for energy, flexibility is a measurement of tension in the body. A stiff body is like a car with its brakes on. Think how much gas your car would waste!! That gas is your energy, when you carry unnecessary tension. Most stretching activities are less a matter of “lengthening” muscles, tendons, or ligaments than learning how to communicate with your body, to learn how to breathe into tension.

4) Strength. Contrary to popular belief, strength is more in the mind than the body. It is a matter of leverage, concentration, and controlled excitation even more than it is the “size” of the muscles involved. On a physiological level, it is a matter of the percentage of your muscle fibers you can recruit at a given moment. Weight training, or body-weight exercises like Hindu Pushups and Hindu Squats, are great ways to increase strength, which makes physical tasks much easier and less fatiguing.

B ) Controlling food intake. A critical factor. Note that I didn’t say “diet.” At this point, we all pretty much understand that diets don’t work

Winning The Family Weight Loss Game

Is weight weighing heavily on your mind? If you or someone in your family needs to lose weight, you have lots of company: Nearly two-thirds of American adults and a third of American children need to lighten up.

Since the family is one of the most powerful influences on a child’s weight and health, a new book from Betty Crocker rallies family members to team up in tackling their weight concerns. “Betty Crocker Win At Weight Loss Cookbook” ($24.95, available where books are sold) maps out a game plan of simple steps that parents can take for improving their own healthy habits while allowing their kids to become more active and “grow into” a healthier weight. Parents are the role model and coach of the family team.

To ensure success for readers, Betty Crocker enlisted the assistance of a leading public health expert for winning strategies in this new book. An internationally respected researcher in weight control, James Hill, Ph.D., lends his best advice from years of counseling clients who have attained and successfully maintained a healthy weight. Hill is a professor of pediatrics at the University of Colorado, and director of the Center for Human Nutrition, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health. Hill is also co-founder of America on the Move, an initiative to help people avoid weight gain.

The family that plays together enjoys good health and has fun together. In becoming more active and enjoying a wide variety of delicious meals, any family can be “winners” and gain healthy habits for a lifetime. The new book provides realistic steps for any family to take toward better health.

How Many Calories To Lose Weight

Counting calories is a popular method of losing weight. The intention is to burn more calories than you eat, and therefore lose weight. Of course, there is no definite number that everyone should eat each day, and therefore no special number which we need to cut back on in order to loose weight. The essential figure to consider when calorie counting is the amount of calories you need to consume each day in order to maintain your weight as it is. This may involve a few sums, but once you have that figure, you can work out the amount you want to reduce.

In order to work out the amount you need to maintain your present weight, you first need to work out your BMR. There are many ways that you figure this out online, and it should not take you very long. Once you have done this, then you need to work out how much activity you do during an average day. If you are sedentary, times your BMR by 1.2, If you are slightly active, times it by 1.375. If you are moderately active (if, you do exercise most days a week) then times it by 1.55. If you are even more active than that, times the BMR by 1.725, and if you perform hard labour, or are involved in competitive sport, times the BMR by 1.9.

You may need to fetch a calculator at this point. For example, a woman weighing 200 pounds may have a BMR of 1675 and be very inactive, so she would times her BMR by two, and produce a result of 3350. This figure is the amount of calories the woman would need to consume if she wanted to stay at the weight she is now.

Once you have worked out how many calories you need in order to keep your weight the same, you can then start to cut back your intake in order to loose weight. It is considerably healthier to cut back the amount of calories you eat a little bit at a time. This is also dependant upon how much weight you want to loose. Guidelines recommend that you should loose no more than 2 pounds each week, and it is probably better in the long tem if you only aim for one pound. Each pound is the equivalent of 3,500 calories, which conveniently mean that reducing your intake by 500 calories a day will lose one pound a week through diet alone.

You can lose these 500 calories purely by cutting them from your diet, or you could lose 250 from your intake, and then burn 250 calories thought exercise. You should take into consideration how much you exercise, as well as what you eat, and record it all in a diary. This is not there to reveal how little you did on a certain day; it is an account of each little step you take towards losing each pound at the end of the week.

You should try and keep your calorie reduction even: so if you can’t exercise one day, don’t be tempted to cut back more rigorously on your eating the day after. It is far more important to consistently lose weight, even if it is only a little, than punish yourself for small infractions. With the latter policy, you are likely to give up before you have even reached your goal.

Once you start losing weight, you also need to remember to revise your BMR and weight loss plan. The calorie cutback which was suitable for weight loss in a 200-pound woman will not have the same effect on a woman who now weight 180 pounds. If you find yourself reaching a plateau, where you care no longer losing, consider checking your BMR – you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.

How To Build Your Triceps

Many people who seek to increase the muscle in their triceps area tend to make the common mistake of believing that they are already being worked when you are focused on the chest muscles. While they do receive a bit of a work-out through this process, it is not enough to truly build them enough to show an increase in muscle mass.

Thus it is necessary to also do exercises specifically designed to build the triceps muscles. While training the triceps is necessary independently of working the chest, it is important to realize that to work them back to back would be detrimental to the development of the triceps as they, too, do need to rest between workouts and they do receive a minimal amount of stress during the chest workout. So it is advised that you leave a two day window before and after the chest workout before beginning a triceps regimen.

Once again, it is important to remember that all muscle groups need to be warmed up before you attempt to work them hard. So initially, it is it is important to stretch out these muscles before beginning to work them more intensely.

Once you have warmed up your triceps, the series of exercises below seem to be the most effective according to the body building experts to develop muscular and deeply cut triceps.

To begin, a very popular and effective means of developing those triceps is known as “Closed Grip Pushdowns.” These are accomplished by:

– Standing with your feet a slight distance apart in a tension weight machine. – Grasp the weight bars at waist height firmly with palms facing towards you. – Push the weight bar down; dropping shoulders slightly to fully work the triceps, and add an extra squeeze at the bottom for extra tension in the muscle. – Return to the starting position.

This exercise puts direct resistance on the triceps and is exceptionally effective in building the mass of the same. This routine should be done in three sets with twelve to fifteen reps. in each to assure a solid work out of the triceps muscles.

Another triceps-geared exercise that can be quite effective in building triceps is called “Closed Grip Bench Presses.”

– This can be done either sitting, standing, or lying down. – The barbell or weight bar is should be in front of you with the elbows slightly bent. – Pull the barbell or weight bar towards your chest until the elbows meet the triceps, just short of lockout while keeping the tension on your triceps. – Return to the starting position.

This exercise directly applies resistance to the triceps and can be felt through the tension in the arms at the end of each move. It should be done in four sets of eight to ten reps each.

“Parallel Bar Dips” are a wonderful triceps activity as they affect all three muscles in the triceps group at once. It is a workout move that truly adds to the building of muscle and should be attempted to be included in any plan to increase the triceps mass. Begin by:

– Positioning yourself on parallel bars with your back completely straight. *Leaning forward transfers the resistance to the pectoral muscles so to work the triceps, a straight back is essential. – Bending your elbows, drop your body as it is being held off of the ground by your arm strength only until your biceps meet your forearms and hold. – Return to starting position.

This exercise should be done in four sets with eight to ten reps. in each. This is truly a great way to work those triceps and make them all you want them to be!

But let us remember, it is the workout of these muscles in a regimented way without overdoing it or under-working them that will bring about the results you desire. All the curls in the world will not bring about the results that these few exercises, a healthy diet filled with a lot of protein, and a little devotion to structured workouts will give you in the end.
